What could you expect from a guy that is very good looking? Of course he is so popular and fond by many women but for Luis Morillo expect the unexpected.

Luis is a shy type good looking guy in Becquerel 3 and a student in Avogadro for two consecutive years who never wants to be captured by camera. He finished Grade seven in Claret School of Quezon City, an exclusive school for boys. He seems to be unsociable but when you got close to him you will know how much jolly and talkative he is. The 5’3 handsome guy wants to be in military some day.

Luis has very unusual sport that you couldn’t expect him to do. That sport is Archery and he even got a silver medal in a competition in this sport. Archery is a sport which uses bow and arrow and hit the bull’s eye with the arrow. Luis loves this sport because he is good in his physics class, especially with the trajectory. See he loves physics which is so unexpected for students to love. He also wants to play soccer

The thing you do not know about him is his morbidity. Luis satisfies himself by setting cats on fire. What cats on fire! So harsh! In fact, he already burned 4 innocent cats and hopes to burn more in the future. In the contrary, he only burn cats that are already dead and consider burning them as a cremation but still he told in the interview that he first insert fireworks on the dead body of the cat before burning it so it will explode. He also said in the interview that burning them would make him feel happy, fulfilling and make his day complete. The real reason behind this, he is only the ones who know the answer.

If you see Luis, you could see his how timid he is. The reason for this is because he is isolated since he was a child. His family lives in an exclusive subdivision with no friends and friendly neighbors. He seldom communicates with his brothers and sisters and always stays in his room playing computer and watching television. He is also shy when it comes to talking to girls even though the girl is not his crush. He admitted that he is “torpe” or shy when it comes to his crush. So girls make the first move. The Becquerel class is so puzzled why Luis is so close to Raya Tan for the fact that he is shy to the persons he is not close with. He even talks so sweet with Raya in and outside the classroom. He sets no rules in determining the right girl for him either beautiful or ugly. He believes that by the time he sees hi right girl he will know if that is the right girl for him

Luis has a dream to become a soldier of the Philippines some day. But the most unexpected goal of his dream is to start a military revolution that is like a Coup de’ etat in the Philippines to keep discipline in order to prevent the formation of weaknesses in people. The interviewer was intrigued and puzzled after hearing the goal of his ambition. He is obsessive in playing computer games especially in military games. He even perfect his scores on games he is obsessive with.

Dealing With an OFW Parent, Is It Hard Or Easy?

By: Mentor Gyver L. Acuña Bec-3

A lot of Filipinos are working outside the Philippines. These Filipinos are called Overseas Filipino Worker or simply, OFWs. The Government treats OFWs as heroes and saviors of our economy.

Why do you think most of the OFWs will work for a lower job for the other country and be alone and to leave their family alone if there is a lot of opportunities here in the Philippines?

It is really the Government of the Philippines that is responsible for the brain drain of many of our talented Filipinos. It is the Government that does not maximize the human resources of our country that cause our economic decline. This forced many of the Filipinos to find a better fortune outside the Philippines and to give their family a better fortune. Many professionals took courses like nursing, nursing aid and caregiving to be able to go abroad easier. These professionals are lawyers, doctors, engineer, etc...

Having a parent in abroad is quite difficult especially if it is both. From some people I interviewed, having this situation is homesicking and sad for them. This situation has an effect on each of every one of them.

Some children whose parent or parents are in abroad experience a hard time. When these OFWs left, their families are left behind here in the Philippines. The major impact of brain drain happens on the some children of some OFW. Some of their children became stubborn and even a rebel, especially with those children who have their both parents working abroad. These rebels lack guidance and love they want. I know someone who finds accompany, friendship and love from somebody and even spending too much for his friends because he doesn’t feel it to his own parents who are working abroad. Maybe they lack a heart to heart communication.

In the contrary, there are still children who are not having a hard time having an OFW parent. One of my classmates, Meggie Shaine Rivera, has a dad working abroad. His name is Brigido. He worked in Taiwan for 7 years and in present, he worked for more than 3 years in the Middle East as an electrician. Meggie said that when she was little, it is sad when her father was leaving but when she grew up, she get used to it with a little miss for her dad. She admitted that she is a Daddy’s girl and she never had any hard feelings for him. Thank to the new technology. Because of this, the daddy’s girl is intact with her daddy. She chat her daddy in the internet for almost everyday. They play tennis and badminton, their favorite sports, every time her daddy comes home in the Philippines. Being abroad was never a hindrance for their bonding moments.

Dealing with an OFW parent is neither a hard nor an easy thing to do. It is what we do to make our life happy or miserable. The selection of kind friends is needed for children of OFWs because they influence them to how they will become in the future. Communication is needed to maintain the good relationship between the parent and child because if it does not exist, misunderstanding could go on the way.

For the children whose parent/s are OFWs, remember that parents love you ten times as you expected. They are enduring the hard life and homesick outside the country for you to study and have a better future. Avoid disappointing your parents because they want you to become better persons some day.

Reflection in Chemistry

In American movies that I watched, people are so intimidated when there here words and concepts in science. Teenagers in US outcast people that they call geeks. For me, I think those geeks are just so studious and deserve to be praise because those geeks obtain the intelligence that other people who outcast geeks don’t have. Those geeks are the foundation of science in the 1800’s. Well, I just want to say my opinion even though it doesn’t have any relation to my journal.

Mr. Esteban is the strictest teacher when it comes to correction but a very friendly and kind teacher outside the classroom. Erasures, alterations and superimpositions of any form are strictly prohibited. That is the general direction in getting any test in Chemistry. I hate it. In the contrary, I think it is good for us because it will minimize our chances in getting mistakes. Life is full of mistakes and that is true but, these mistakes teach us to become stronger and to stand up again. I think Mr. Esteban just want teach us avoid making mistakes in life and to be sure in making decisions in our life. I made so many mistakes in life and I keep on regretting it until now. Mr. Esteban is right. We must be sure in every step we make because these decisions will make us what we are in the future. In life there will be no erasure, alterations and superimpositions because you can’t turn back time to fix you mistake so we must be very sure in deciding what we will be.

Mr. Esteban gave us a lot of works but those works are good to us. In taking an easy test, you can’t get anything than satisfaction. I think people who live in easy and wealthy lives are not ready to experience hardships and could breakdown when the storm comes because they were not used to it. People who experience hardships can survive all obstacles because they know what will do when the storm comes. So hardships in Chemistry are not bad things because it will make us more intelligent and strong in life and to be ready for many hardships to come. Quality is better than Quantity I hope that there will be someone to be inspired in reading this reflection. Mr. Esteban, as a teacher, taught me several lessons in Chemistry and also in real life. Life is beautiful so live every second of it.

Impact of Human Cloning on Mankind

Over the years technology has evolved and paved roads for new and ever-inspiring innovations and challenges. Scientists have embraced some of these challenges and have succeeded for the most part with creating an environment that appeals to the many essentials and desires of human nature. Nevertheless, there are still many problems that arise from new scientific advances, both technilogically and morally. One indispensable debate that continues to weigh on many scholarly minds is the concept of human reproductive cloning. Moralists have constantly argued amongst themselves on whether or not human reproductive cloning should be permissible: whether or not it undermines and degrades human beings. There are many reasons, both rational and irrational, that explain the pros and cons of the issue at hand.

God gave us a power. The power to produce the organisms of our own kind by sexual reproduction but, Is cloning a part of our power to reproduce?

Consider also the example of identical twins - who are genetically identical -but often grow up with vastly different personalities. This can be attributed to: 1) unique souls, and 2) different life experiences. So too, the cloned being has a unique soul, and different life experiences. (The only difference between twins and a clone is that twins are the same age, while clones are separated by one generation, or to be more exact, the age of the cell-donor.). I think the clone might have a miserable life because psychologically and sociologically the person is not normal because the clone has no family and family love. You, do you want to be cloned without any known family and live in a miserable live because people criticize you because you’re fake and just a cloned

I am really opposed the use of cloning because it only does little advantages and a lot of possible disadvantages. We could imagine certain scenarios where cloning could help save a human life. For example, let's say you only have one kidney, and then discover that you are the only exact-match donor for your brother, who will die if he doesn't get a new kidney. You could clone yourself, and then use one of the new kidneys to save your brother's life.

For Scientists, Human cloning allows man to fashion his own essential nature and turn chance into choice. For cloning's advocates, this is an opportunity to remake mankind in an image of health, prosperity, and nobility; it is the ultimate expression of man's unlimited potential.

On the other hand, the potential for abuse is enormous. The most frightening idea is "growing" humans in cages, in order to "harvest" their bodies for spare parts. It is not far-fetched to imagine an unscrupulous multi-millionaire cloning himself in this manner -- in case he should ever need a kidney, heart, eye, bone marrow, etc. Another potential abuse is creating a class of mindless worker-clones. This is morally (and constitutionally) illegal - it's called "slavery." In some countries, cloning was banned and with punishment. Cloning could be used for some crime. President Bush can be cloned and order to have a war.

There is a movie that I watched about cloning entitled “The Sixth Day”. A man is being cloned for some useless experiment. The clone lived in a miserable life. For some in the movie, they clone themselves to keep their body alive and to keep their intelligence in the clone alive.

However, true immortality involves more than making a younger genetic copy of one. Are we nothing more than "flesh-and-bone computers," living to eat and propagate?

Scientists who envision medical breakthroughs using stem cells from human embryos are now moving on to human cloning -- breeding people for the purpose of harvesting their tissues and organs from their bodies, then disposing of them. And this procedure can break the rule of the law on human rights.

Cloning, even so-called therapeutic or experimental cloning, creates a new life without a father, and reduces a mother to the provider of an almost emptied egg. Nonetheless, it is a new human life and the determination to destroy it and limit its use to scientific research for therapeutic ends compound further the moral issues rather than protect mankind. As such, cloning embryonic human life under any circumstance crosses an ethical line, takes an irrevocable step, from which science can never turn back

Therapeutic cloning will in time allow scientists to create organs that are a perfect match for those in need of a transplant. The cloned organ would be based on the recipient’s genetic material and would not require the use of debilitating immunosuppressive therapies. There would also be no chance of rejection, which is fatal. Therapeutic cloning represents the ideal in organ transplantation, as it would provide an unlimited source of organs to anyone who needs them. The need for these organs is dire.

But creating a clone that is also a human with a life then it will just be a source of organs. Do you think the clone will also allow the removal of all the organs?

Katharina Wilson describes a misuse of cloning that she believes is going on today at one or more secret underground US government bases. She believes that scientists are cloning humans. After the experiments are over, the women are used as prostitutes. When the researchers and military personnel are finished with them, they are killed. She claims to have seen two women at a secret base who were clones of herself. (In an unrelated event, she recalls having experienced a sexually intimate contact with an alien being). Similar stories of clones associated with UFOs and Extra-terrestrial beings have materialized in the last few years.
The Cloning and some Genetic Engineering have their own advantages and disadvantages and these disadvantages can lead to the disruption and confusions in science because it will greatly affect taxonomy. It can create a new phylum and maybe a new kingdom but, is it really the will of God?

They envision a person cloning themselves so that the clone could be robbed for a needed organ. This argument is irrelevant; one has to separate possible abuses of a technology from the debate over whether a technology is moral. Quantum physics is not immoral because it has been used to design nuclear weapons.

So... is cloning good or bad? Judaism says there is nothing in the world that is inherently good or evil; there is only the potential for good and evil. Even something we typically associate as "bad" - for example, outrage - can be used for good - outrage against injustice. Similarly, even something we typically associate as "good" - for example, giving - can be used for bad - over-giving, or smothering. Talent, education and wisdom only have potential.

It is our prayer that the world will use its powers only for purposes which are good, holy, and truly "human."
